TATA IPL 2024 Auction: All You Need To Know So Far
The TATA IPL 2024 Player Auction was held on December 19 and saw a total of 72 players sold, with Rs 230 crore spent in total among the franchises. Taking place in Dubai’s Cola Arena, the event marked the first time TATA auctioned off players in an overseas location.
According to leading IPL news outlets, this year’s auction broke the record for the most expensive player. He was one of the 30 overseas players to be auctioned for the upcoming Indian Premier League.
Here’s a short overview of all IPL teams and their newest additions.
Chennai Super Kings
The Super Kings’ most expensive addition was Daryl Mitchell, a New Zealand all-rounder whose price was ₹14,00,00,000. CSK also fought for Australia's Travis Head, but the Sunrisers Hyderabad won the bid with Rs 6.8 crore. The following players made it onto the Super Kings’ roster, as well:

- Ricky Bhui (batter)
- Swastik Chikara (batter)
Other domestic buys included:

Royal Challengers Bengaluru
The Bengaluru-based cricket club bought five players during the TATA IPL 2024 auction. While they spared no expense on Alzarri Joseph, spending Rs 11.5 core to strengthen their bowler lineup, the RCB team adopted a more measured strategy for the remaining bids.

Finally, the Sunrisers Hyderabad had a field day with the auction, shelling out as much as Rs 30.80 crore. Their most expensive acquisition was Pat Cummins, an overseas bowler who held the record for the highest purchase (Rs 20.50 crore) until the KKR bought Starc. However, at Rs 10.30 crore, the remaining four players didn't come cheap, either. Here's a look at who they were:
